FINALLY! RADAR MAGAZINE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
I need to vent. I need to let some stress out of my system, because I will be totally honest, I’m starting to get very down for reasons I do not know. Well I do know, but hey…not going to bore you with the details.
So, I logged in this morning to see a Press Release sent out in the Associated SL Press group, with the headline ‘Radar Magazine Announces New Publisher’. This immediately grabbed my attention, due to the fact, I used to work and be around the founders of this magazine ALOT. Especially when I used to do the BOSL Breakfast Radio show. Which DID come to an end, and the reasons for that, neither of us ever announced.
At one point, Dancer Dallagio was the magazines Editor in Chief. Not sure what happened there, but she didn’t seem to stick around. Then Ji Nirvana came into the picture, and was the new EIC of Radar Magazine.
Over the last few months, my relationship with Labella Farella & UncleSlappy Wylie has hardly been one of laughter and good times. In fact, It has been the complete opposite. I felt completely used when we did the radio show towards the end. And I was not the only one. Used to make friends, so they could later feature in the comeback of RADAR. Used, so they could create a shopping mall, featuring the designers who WE interviewed. Used, so they could later create their own radio station – RadarRadioSL.
It was not what they created that annoyed me, it was the way they did it, and the way I felt like we were never friends in the first place. Would I be able to trust these people again? Never. People like this in Second Life, I really do not like at all. So, after a short while, It started to get to me more and more, So I posted a status on my Facebook, directed at this, saying something like ‘Can you not think of any unique ideas on your own, or do you have to use people to get what you want’. Not in those words exactly, but was certainly along those lines. After a while, I took it down, because they asked me to.
A few months passed, and I wish I never took it down. Because I have had a very close friend of mine come to me and say they have stolen her money, and now, they are leaving Second Life. And she was not the only one. It seems a lot of money was paid for advertisements, and then they never published, and have just vanished from the grid, without giving any of their clients a reason. Not going to lie, had a feeling this would happen. Same as I had a feeling they would create a ”radio station” like…2 months before they made it public.
So I see this Press Release this morning, that Ji Nirvana has taken over operations at Radar Magazine due to the ‘unexpected leave of CEO and Publisher Labella Farella’. I applaud Ji, any problems I have had against RADAR are not against her. I have respect for someone taking over a project which quite frankly, doesn’t seem to have many fans at the moment. And I really hope Ji will do something positive with this magazine. Because obviously SHE CARES.
Anyway, there is my vent. But seriously, people like this in Second Life who think they can just do this, are completely out-of-order. Are these people on alts now? It’s probably a question many will be asking, and the answer is most likely yes. Well, if they are, I do hope they have a good SLife. But really…I hope Ji Nirvana can actually do something awesome with this. Thumbs up Ji 🙂 Thumbs up your ass Labella Farella 🙂
UPDATED: 5/29/2011 – SINCE THIS WAS POSTED, UNCLESLAPPY WYLIE HAS PAID BACK ANY MONEY THAT WAS OWED TO ANY OF RADAR MAGAZINES CUSTOMERS WHOS SERVICE WAS ABANDONED WHEN LABELLA FARELLA QUIT. I THINK THIS WAS A GREAT THING WHAT SLAPPY DID, AND I HOPE HE AND EVERYONE ELSE INVOLVED CAN NOW MOVE ON TO MORE POSITIVE PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE.
